Teacher Dai, a graduate of the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts, has over 18 years of experience teaching group classes.
As an artist with a background in Western painting, she is dedicated to imparting the essence of Western painting techniques to her students. Her instruction covers a wide range of media, including drawing, watercolor, oil painting, acrylics, and artistic creation.
In her teaching approach, she emphasizes the pursuit of atmosphere within a painting, integrating emotions and thoughts into the artwork. Through brushwork, she aims to create a unique space where light seems to flow within the composition.
Recognizing the convenience and increasing demand for watercolor, in recent years, she has focused her watercolor instruction on the wet-on-wet technique. Building upon a solid foundation of light, shadow, and form, she prioritizes the interplay of soft and sharp contrasts in the painting, emphasizing atmospheric depth over mere representational accuracy.
Through watercolor, we capture the fleeting beauty of light and shadow in motion. The wet-on-wet technique in watercolor, much like tracing the movement of light through the air, is one of the most beautiful forms of artistic expression.
In this course, we will use watercolor as our medium to preserve these ephemeral moments of beauty on paper.
"We all exist in our own unique way and experience the world differently. I love expressing my days, emotions, and stories through painting. Painting is a process of observation, perception, and expression—allowing each artwork to become a personal vessel of time. If I were to choose the most flexible, immediate, and convenient medium for this, I would choose watercolor for its lightness and elegance. It is an incredibly versatile medium, capable of being both soft and delicate or bold and strong."
Watercolor is known for its ability to create rich and dynamic color variations. Through techniques like delicate wet washes or bold layering, it offers a wide range of tones and textures. Its portability makes it an ideal choice for artists when painting outdoors, sketching quickly, or capturing fleeting emotions.
In this era of advanced technology, painting has become a unique form of dialogue. Through watercolor, one can deeply experience the charm of light, shadow, and atmosphere in the present moment. More than just a medium of artistic expression, watercolor serves as a window for interacting with the world—allowing light, color, and emotions to blend seamlessly through each brushstroke.
In this online class, you will learn to harness watercolor’s transparency and fluidity to create depth and dimension in animal paintings. This course goes beyond teaching technical skills—it is designed to inspire a new way of observing the world.
Through this class, you will develop a heightened sensitivity to life and nature while gradually cultivating your own unique artistic style. Whether you are a beginner or someone with prior painting experience, this course will provide you with an enriching learning experience and endless creative inspiration.
